1 month later

Well I'm sorry that it took so long but life has been KRAZY since Gustav. Well we as a family are doing great. Our house sustained no damage from the storm but we did have a powersurge that fried our computer ( Janel fixed it for 40 dollars ), the TV ( my sister Rhonda gave us an extra one that she had, and it actually has a remote so we upgraded ), our modem and our router ( our friend Joey gave us a modem that she wasnt using ) , our PS2 and our Nintendo WII ( they are in the shop being repaired. ). We lost a section of fence in the back but we were able to nail it back up with no problems. We also lost the gate from the side of the house, but we are going to extend that side of the yard all the way up to the front of the house so we are in the process of having our land surveyed so we know exactlly were we can build. We were without power for 8 days we have a generator so we were able to have a window unit in our bedroom and we all slept in our room so we could keep cool. We were able to run our washer but not the dryer, so we hung our clothes out on a clothes line. We did well but it cost us a small fortune in gas for the generator but we survived. Janel and the kids are doing great, Brennan celebrated his third birthday in August and he growing fast. Kate is running all over the house and talking more everyday. Janel is a great mother and the best wife that I could have ever been blessed with. As for me the storm has blessed us with ALOT of work .

Gustav damage report in Rabalais country

Well here are some pictures of the tree that woke us up. I was able to get a chainsaw from a friend and cut it off of the house before the weather gets worst. Im allmost positive that it caused no damage except for a loose fence now and a stretched out gutter. wishing everyone well and we will keep everyone informed untill we loose power. We have allready lost cell fones.

Good Morning GUSTAV.

I just thought I would give everyone an update before we lose power. @about 5:10am I heard something so I got up and thought that it was the plywood that I had cut yesterday to cover my backdoor had fallen. So I opened the back door and to my surprise a small tree with about a 10 inch trunk had broken in half at about 4 or 5 feet off the ground , and came accross our fence and it is now balancing on our fence and gutter over my master bedroom. As of right now the only damage that I can tell is that its weighing on my gutter and pulling it down. As soon as the sun comes up so I can take some pictures Im gonna call some friends and get the tree cut and off the roof before it causes more damage. But just so everyone knows we are doing great.

Well here we go again.

This will be written for our extended family and also to vent my concerns. Its freakin crazy around here. as you all know HURRICANE GUSTAV is on its way. It seams to be like a hungry cajun looking for some gumbo or something they (hurricanes) seam to love Louisiana. Well we are all buckled down and waiting it out here in the Rabalais house. We have generator hooked up and ready to go we have 110 gallons of water stored in 55 gallon drums that I bought from the Coca Cola plant. We have food storage coming out of our .... well lets just say we have enough. contra-flow started at 4 am this morning for those leaving New Orleans. The word is that this one will probably be worst than KATRINA. I love the fact that 2 of our 3 kids are too young to know to be worried. I dont have any crazy stories about the way people are acting other than they are like a bunch of ants, just folllowing in really big lines. Ok so of course Im watching the news as I type this and just saw the projected path to come just west of our town. What does that mean for us ? Well that means that we will be getting the worst part of the winds and rain with estimated rainfall at 13 to 20 inches within 24 hours starting monday. We got an e-mail last night saying that we are only going to have Sacrament meeting this morning, so that we can continue to either get ready or leave which ever people are doing. Not many people that we know are leaving but the southern parishes are having mandatory evacuations. One of my brothers that live in Jennings brought his family to my dads in Mississippi. well please keep us in your prayers. I will update as I can.

POTTY NEWS

Well about a week ago one of Brennan's friends came over and while he was here used the potty and Brennan saw him. Well it got Brennan excited about using the potty himself, and last thursday he informed us that he needed to go potty and he actually did. But even more shocking was this morning Kate says" I pee pee" so we took her to the bathroom and she actually pee-peed in the potty. We are so proud of both of them and shocked . other than that we are all doing ok and trudging the road of happy destiny.
